I love minimalist quilts, not only because of their modern looks but because I have plenty of space to do free motion quilting. Every quilt I make offers me opportunity to learn new quilting patterns and designs.

This quilt has no pattern, I got half yards or (50cm x 110cm) of three color coordinated fabrics, cream, red, and green. I cut 7cm or 2.75inches squares from each fabrics and sew strips of patchwork to get the alternating blocks. The binding fabrics were also taken from the accent fabrics (red and green).

I was determined to make a bold statement on the center of the quilt by quilting big bold flary heart with my favorite flary feather design. And to emphasize the spine of the feather and shape of the heart, I used pebbles to fill in the spine area. It did work so well that I can spot the design easily even few meters away from the table. This is my valentines day project and I couldn't be happier how it turns out, I gifted this table runner to my Japanese language teacher, and she was ecstatic.
